OMS® (Open Metering System) is a standardized communication system for the remote collection of consumption data from meters, particularly water, gas, heat, and electricity meters. Technically based on Wireless M-Bus, it defines uniform rules for secure, manufacturer-independent data communication, enabling different meters and systems to work together interoperably.
OMS® is optimized for small amounts of data and offers high energy efficiency, allowing battery-powered devices to operate reliably for many years. The standard also enables easy integration into existing meter reading and billing systems, providing long-term security and investment protection for submetering applications.
