Enable Remote Meter Reading.

Sontex AMR System Components – from fast commissioning to EED-compliant remote meter reading.

Gateways for Automatic Remote Meter Reading

The automatic collection and transmission of consumption data is an essential prerequisite for modern AMR and smart metering systems. Gateways play a central role as the communication interface between wireless metering devices and higher-level software, billing, and building management systems. They automatically collect consumption data, securely transmit it to central platforms, and provide the basis for efficient meter reading processes, transparent consumption information, and reduced operational and administrative complexity.

As requirements for digitalization, energy efficiency, and automated consumption data collection continue to increase, fixed-network gateway solutions are becoming increasingly important. They enable continuous data collection without the need for on-site meter reading and support the implementation of modern smart metering concepts in residential and commercial properties as well as municipal and industrial applications. At the same time, they provide the basis for timely access to consumption data and compliance with regulatory requirements such as the European Energy Efficiency Directive (EED).

With the Superlink C, Sontex offers a high-performance gateway solution for automated remote reading of wireless metering devices. The gateway supports Sontex Radio and wM-Bus / OMS® and serves as a central communication platform for collecting, consolidating, and transmitting consumption data. Thanks to modern communication interfaces and secure data transmission, the system can be seamlessly integrated into existing AMR, smart metering, energy management, and billing systems.

In addition, the Superlink C enables efficient management of large device inventories and supports features such as remote monitoring, remote parameterization, and automated data provision. This provides metering service providers, energy utilities, and building operators with a future-proof solution for digitalizing their metering infrastructure and reliably reading consumption data remotely.

Mobile Radio Modems for Walk-by Meter Reading and Parameterization

Supercom 636 & 637

Mobile reading and service devices are an important component of modern metering systems when consumption data needs to be collected flexibly on site or metering devices need to be configured. Radio modems enable communication with wireless metering devices without direct cabling and support service technicians and metering service providers with commissioning, maintenance, parameterization, and data collection. This helps streamline processes and simplifies the management of metering systems.

Especially in walk-by systems, mobile radio modems offer a cost-effective and flexible alternative to fixed remote meter reading solutions. Consumption data can be collected during a walk-by route without having to enter buildings or apartments. At the same time, the devices enable quick commissioning of new metering devices and adjustment of parameters directly on site.

With the Supercom 636 and Supercom 637 radio modems, Sontex offers high-performance solutions for mobile meter reading and parameterization. The devices support communication with wireless meters and heat cost allocators and enable convenient walk-by collection of consumption data. They also support service and configuration tasks, simplifying the management of metering devices throughout their entire lifecycle.

Thanks to modern wireless technologies, high mobility, and ease of use, the Supercom devices can be seamlessly integrated into existing AMR and smart metering processes. They provide metering service providers, energy utilities, and building operators with a flexible solution for mobile data collection, commissioning, and maintenance of wireless metering systems, while complementing fixed remote meter reading solutions.
