LoRaWAN® is a Low Power Wide Area Network (LPWAN) technology for Internet of Things (IoT) applications such as smart metering. It enables small devices such as sensors and meters to transmit data wirelessly over long distances with very low energy consumption.
The technology is particularly well suited for transmitting small amounts of data, such as meter readings or sensor measurements, over several kilometers – including through buildings. Thanks to its low power consumption, devices can often operate for many years without a battery replacement. LoRaWAN® is also highly scalable and supports a large number of connected devices, making it a cost-effective and low-maintenance solution for smart metering, monitoring, and other large-scale IoT applications.
